About the NJIT Library

The NJIT Library supports the university’s teaching, learning, and research mission through its two libraries: the Robert W. Van Houten Library and the Barbara and Leonard Littman Architecture and Design Library.
The Robert W. Van Houten Library, located in the Central Avenue Building, is the university’s main library. It's 56,266 square feet, providing approximately 600 seats and a variety of spaces for individual and group study, research, collaboration, and computing. The Library also offers 14 group study rooms, an Information Commons computer lab, an Information Training Lab, and convenient access to the IST Help Desk for technology assistance.
The Barbara and Leonard Littman Architecture and Design Library, located in Weston Hall, supports architecture, art, and design programs with specialized collections, spaces, and services.
Together, the two libraries provide access to extensive print and digital collections, research databases, scholarly journals, ebooks, and other resources supporting NJIT’s academic and research programs. A staff of 24 provides expertise and services in research, instruction and information literacy, collections, access services, scholarly communication, and digital initiatives.
Access
NJIT Library resources and services primarily support the teaching, learning, and research needs of the NJIT community. The Van Houten Library is also open to members of the public conducting research that draws upon the Library’s specialized science and technology collections. Visitors may be required to present valid identification and must comply with NJIT Library policies while using Library spaces and resources.
