Interlibrary Loan Services to Other Libraries Policy

The NJIT library interlibrary loan and document delivery service attempts to provide interlibrary service to other libraries as sumamrized below

Individual researchers seeking to use materials from NJIT's collections who are unable to come to the campus or to qualify for personal borrowing priviledges must contact their local library's interlibrary loan service for assistance.

NJIT loan of general circulating materials and copies (Note: special handling fees apply to all categories)

Circulating items are loaned for 4 weeks from the date of shipment. Loan renewals must be requested in advance of loan expiration. Libraries failing to return items after loan expiration will be subject to billing procedures and loss of borrowing privileges.

Audio visual or electronic materials, journals, maps, microforms, reserve materials, reference books, or NJIT theses/dissertations are not available for loan.

Special Handling

Rush processing: $35.00 per request plus regular charges (includes US mail delivery). The NJIT libraries will retrieve and ready for shipment, if available, requested materials within 24 hours or receipt of a request received Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 am EST.
Fax delivery: Regular charges plus $ 1.00 per page for North America.
Express Surface Mail: Regular charges plus delivery service costs. (Requesting libraries should supply their service provider's account number.)

NJIT theses/dissertations

NJIT theses and dissertations are not loaned. However many are available online at library1.njit.edu/etd. Those not available online can be requested to be placed online.
